Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Let the Light Shine In.

A fire at a Church spread thick smoke through the large attic storage room. Windows were blackened by a layer heavy soot. So were the ceiling beams and walls. Our company (SERVPRO) used a soda blasting technique to remove the soot deposits. Baking soda is sprayed at a high pressure onto the soot. It removes the soot without doing damage to the underlaying material. (Sand was used for many years, but it abraded the surface of base materials.) Today baking soda is preferred to sand. The first area we worked on were the windows... so we could "see the light." After we cleaned the windows, we set about soda blasting the ceiling and walls.
