Productions, Keeps the Ball Rolling!

Jose Medrano, Production Manager (in center reading) is performing a training session with production department team members. Each week the managers at SERVPRO perform employee training and motivation using a book titled, The Four Disciplines of Execution. Our company calls this the 4DX Book. It teaches the managers and their team how to set goals, or to be more specific "Wildly Important Goals". Each week past goals are set and then reviewed for the success of their implementation. The former goals are adjusted, and or new goals are established for the following week. The idea is to be proactive. To always be moving forward. Instead of waiting until some project has been completed and then analyzing the final results, the 4DX program looks at indicators along the way.

Storm Team Ready for Action

Our SERVPRO storm team is ready for action for flooding disaster cleanup in Texas. Flood waters bring bacterial contamination and eventual mold growth problems to structures. Our restoration workers have to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while working in these conditions.

Mold or Dry Rot?

Both. In this photo the support beams (floor joists) are contaminated with dry rot and mold. Dry rot is member of the Fungi family that "eats" wood by sucking the moisture from the wood, causing it to loss it's density and crumble. Mold often grows along side dry rot. Mold puts out gases that produce odors and can pose potential health issues to humans. When you see dry rot or mold it needs to be removed.

Dedicated content cleaning professional.

Few restoration companies are willing to perform content cleaning. It is tedious and detailed work. At SERVPRO of Belmont / San Carlos we take pride in the talented and hard working team of dedicated technicians who perform this work for our customers who have experienced a fire in their home or place of business. Over the years we have cleaned contents on location and in our shop. Be assured, if you suffer smoke and soot damage, we can make it like it never even happened.

Mold discovered under the carpeting.

A property management company asked us to find the source of a musty odor. We concluded that the carpet and underlayment were the source of the odor. We were told to remove the carpet and carpet pad. Carpet cleaning vendors had over wetted the carpet several times causing mold to grow on the wood sub floor. Cleanup and new carpet and the problem was solved. Call SERVPRO at 650-591-4137 for solutions to odor problems.

We cleaned the boat in three days. The captain was happily back on the water for the first day of salmon season. You can count on SERVPRO of Belmont/San Carlos to float your boat.

SERVPRO CEO Award

Cleanair Image Inc., DBA SERVPRO of Belmont/ San Carlos is proud to have earned the SERVPRO CEO Award.

The award was presented to us for educational work we perform in the community, including building a "demo room" where we are able to cause water and smoke damage to portions of walls and floors and then demonstrate the various cleaning procedures we use to reverse the damage... to make it "like it never even happened."

Our original demo room was located in our San Leandro facility. Recently it has been moved (and expanded) in Stockton. The room is used during continuing education classes and workshops for the real estate and insurance communities.

Mold Growth Caused By Wet HVAC Ducting

When water floods basements and crawl spaces the water can enter the heat and air conditioning air ducts that run under the floor. Moisture inside the air supply ducts can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria as has the one in our photo. SERVPRO always checks the conditions of HVAC ducting during our inspections.

"Fungus Among Us"

The Fungus Kingdom includes mushrooms, yeast, dry-rot  and mold. Molds are often addresses microbials. (Micro means small, bial means short-lived bacterium.) By contrast a mushroom is a macro (large) mold. Yes, many fungus are edible.

Molds are found everywhere on the planet, in hot deserts, in arctic regions, forests and jungles. While molds have adapted to a wide variety of environments, the majority of molds thrive in 60 to 90 degrees, the temperature range humans are accustomed to living in.

Further more, molds are a natural part of life on our planet. Their spores can be found floating in the air, both outdoors and indoors.

Good news... most molds are harmless. More good news, we have effective ways to remove and reduce the mold from your indoor environment. Call SERVPRO of Belmont / San Carlos at 650-591-4137.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Technology

Our technicians are working at the fresh water rinse station of our Ultrasonic cleaning system. Items that are able to be wet cleaned are placed into a pre-soak tank, then transferred to an ultrasonic chamber where sonic (sound) waves will vibrate the soils (soot, grease, grime( from the item. Then the cleaned items are rinsed and moved into a drying oven. The machine is effective at rapidly removing difficult soil from delicate items such as ceramic ornaments, glassware and others.

Document Recovery

Water and fire can damage documents. Our team of specialists may be able to save the important content of damaged documents. We can't always make them look "pretty" again, but salvaging the  valuable"content" can be important.

"Flood Cuts"

SERVPRO water cleanup technicians have a term for the way gypsum board is cut and removed from a structure. They call it, "Flood cuts" and it describes the straight line that is made so that the damaged sheetrock is removed cleanly to facilitate the easy insertion of replacement sheetrock. The drywall installers appreciate the effort.

Cleaning out a Sump Pump

Ground water will carry silt with it as it flows through or under structures. The apartment building in the photo has a small water course that runs under a corner of the building. The building also has a sump pump as a backup to handle heavy flows of water. We are flushing out the sump pump so it is in tip top condition and ready to do its job.

Inner wall cavity drying

It is possible to pump HEPA filtered air into damp wall cavities to dry the interior space. This means that we do not have to remove large sections of gypsum board. The least amount of demolition reduces the overall cost of the mitigation and restoration project. It also will shorten the drying and repair cycle time. This too saves money by reducing the interruption to a business or resident that is affected by property damage.

The inner wall drying system can get the walls dry from the inside and all that is required when the wall is dry to complete the job is a simple plaster and paint repair.

A mold infested beam in a school classroom was cleaned, sanded and stained. It was made to look as good or better than new. All of this was done over a weekend so class time was not interrupted.
